One question I’ve seen a lot recently is if the shorter ride height of an S model equipped bike comes at a cost of reduced performance.

So first of all, why an S model? The most obvious answer is the shorter height. The overall ride height is ~3 in lower than their full height counterparts (Riot and Aro). The shortened ride height creates a more comfortable option for the vertically challenged rider. But a bigger benefit (IMO) is the lower center of gravity, which creates a highly agile yet balanced and stable ride. Think about it this way, race cars carry their weight lower so they can change directions faster with less risk of tipping or rolling over. So a lower center of gravity can allow for a more aggressive and nimble ride (faster direction changes with improved stability).

The S models do have slightly less travel, but I don’t see this as a big drawback. For riders looking to jump, do drop offs and take bigger hits, the premium and pro trim levels come equipped with @foxracing QS3 or QS3 IBP respectively for on the fly adjustment. The QS3 IBP shocks have an internal bypass system which allows the shock to provide optimal performance no matter where it’s at in the stroke, providing a supple ride on everything from choppy trails to deep powder hits, while maintaining bottom out resistance on big hits.

Bottom line, after a season on a Riot S LE, I wouldn’t go back to a full height ride even if I was taller. I personally feel that the handling benefits and ride characteristics achieved from an S model far out weigh any perceived negatives.

One of my favorite features of the 2021 model was the adjustable Fox QS3 shocks. They allow for on the fly adjustment from climb to wheelie mode.

For MY22, all Premium trim level kits will have this option. Pro level tracks will get the new Fox QS3 IBP (internal bypass valve) shocks. These have all the great benefits of the QS3 with new position sensitive valving which allows for smoother small bump compliance and better bottom out control. What does this all mean? A more comfortable ride for the transits and in small stuff and a more comfortable landing for the big hits, all while maintaining the best attributes of the Riot chassis! Guess I better start working on my drop off game!

Nothing beats a day in the snow, blasting around on your Timbersled with one of your favorite lady rippers! I’m so stoked that I got to spend another day on the snow with @sballs17 ! We didn’t know each other just a few months ago and we live states apart, but a mutual love of the snow and snow biking thankfully crossed our paths! Days like this don’t happen often, but when they do, it is truly something special!

The inaugural @klimwomen USA snow ride was an incredible experience. 8 amazing women from all different backgrounds on sleds and snow bikes spent the day riding, telling stories, encouraging one another to send it, cheering when it went right, and gladly pitching in on a dig out if it went “not quite right”. The adventure level was high and camaraderie was next level. This is what I love about this sport and the @klim family. I can’t wait to start working on the summer edition! Much love ladies.

Well, today wasn’t short of excitement. Deep powder and a hidden creek ended in a 12 foot elevator drop and an epic stuck. Wedged into the snow under my bike. In the creek. The good news is zero injuries to me or the bike. I got lucky. Apparently I’m a cat and actually kinda landed on my feet. A big thanks to all the awesome people that helped me and the bike out of the pit! Love my snow family.

An extra big shout out to the best gear company out there. I was in head to toe @Klim, and thighs deep in ice cold water, and I wasn’t cold until I got back to the trailer and peeled my wet gear off. A big thanks to these guys for making their women’s gear as high quality and insulating as the men’s gear! This is one of the reasons I fully believe in this company and am proud to represent them!
